Well, Just Hire a Professional!
“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.” -Pablo Picasso
I went to the photographer today to pick up three of my mosaics and their images she had captured with her professional equipment. I could hardly wait to show you the result compared with my previous photos of the same work.
The Big Sing

Significant difference! The photographer is Charlotte Bell. We both did our work outside with natural light, but she captured the true colors of the pieces perfectly.
Here’s another comparison:
The Good Earth
8 5/8″ diameter x 10 7/8″ with spoon x 1 1/2″ deep. Copyright 2009 by Lynn Bridge.
This is why she’s called a ‘professional’!
Now for my favorite comparison of them all:
The Song of the Canyon Wren
7 1/2″ x 9 3/4″ x 1″. Copyright 2009 by Lynn Bridge.
These “after’ colors are as true-to-life as anything could be. Charlotte has what I understand to be a digital filter on her camera that corrects the color that the camera captures, as measured against white. Amazing difference in my photo and hers!
Even though she has photographed mostly paintings and sculptures in her art images, I had an idea she would do an excellent job on my mosaics because she photographs products, too. Products have all kinds of reflective surfaces, and the client wants the color perfect, so I thought this would be comparable to photographing mosaics.
I could spend years learning technique and buying equipment……… or, I can hire Charlotte.
